I agree with your post, particularly item number two. The ROI for innovation can be so ridiculously high that it is unbelievable. I'd suggest focusing initially on easy-to-justify innovations (with a more believable ROI), then as credibility grows moving to large opportunities.

Hi, John: Great point! This is a technique I have seen be quite successful when building support for innovation internally. As an organization begins to see the large impact of small innovation exercises, it develops a taste for more.
